Our History
Polly-Glot Tots was founded in 2007 by a mom with a dream of bringing the wonder of her multi-lingual upbringing to other children.
What We Do
- We offer foreign language immersion classes in French, Spanish, Mandarin, and Japanese.
- Our multi-disciplinary approach incorporates movement, music, art, and stories.
- Our curricula are developmentally age appropriate for children in three age groups: 1-3 years; 3-5 years and for K-5 multi-grade cooperative learning.
- Children ages one to three years must attend with their parent or caregiver. We offer afternoon drop off classes for children four and older at the Phinney Center, though parents and caregivers are welcome to attend.
- Provide a curriculum that is developmentally age appropriate and parallels vocabulary and activity that children are already experiencing at home.
- Polly-Glot Tots Mobile is available for enrichment classes in child care centers, pre-schools and elementary schools. Write to us at info@pollyglottots.com for more information on how Polly-Glot Tots can provide a language program at your facility.
Our Mission
Our mission is to offer engaging and affordable language immersion classes for children and to foster a community of families interested in bringing foreign language and culture into their homes.
We strongly believe in the value of early language education. Research shows that:
- The prime time for language learning is between the ages of 6 months and 6 years when the brain is still forming neural pathways and can process a wider range of tones and sounds.
- Learning a foreign language improves verbal and listening skills as well as analytical and math skills.
- Children who learn a foreign language are more likely to continue learning it into adulthood.
- Bilingual and trilingual adults (aka polyglots) have more career opportunities.
- The ability to communicate with people from another culture - for business or pleasure - is simply enjoyable and makes the world a better place.
